“Beyond genre constraints,” Reed Turchi is a musician, producer, and poet, originally from the Swannanoa Valley of North Carolina. His self-taught slide-guitar style is influenced by his time living in North Mississippi, and his various “KUDZU” ensembles explore a wide range of roots-based music, from Memphis to New Orleans to West Africa and beyond. Turchi’s music has been featured in Rolling Stone, American Songwriter, The Oxford American, PBS, NPR, KEXP,and more. In addition to his own music, he operates Second Take Sound, a recording studio in Manhattan.
